Edmonton Oilers sign (G) Jonas Hiller! (July 23rd 2010)
The Edmonton Oilers have signed free agent goaltender Jonas Hiller to a 2 year deal at 2M per season. In 24 games last season Hiller registered 9 wins, 9 losses and 1 overtime loss - the rest were games in which he was not on the ice for the game winner. "We're thrilled to have a quality netminder such as Hiller on our roster - his credentials are solid and he's still just 28 years old" notes GM Kowalski on the signing.
The Swiss national has stated that the reason for signing with Edmonton is his belief that the team is on the way up and the possibility of being the starting goaltender for a franchise on the rise. The Oilers fans were pleased to hear the news that the Oilers have shored up a quality netminder to compete with veteran Nikolai Khabibulin this year, as last season saw the Oilers largely fail with Deslauriers or Dubnyk in net.
