Edmonton Oilers News (October 17th 2010) "Oilers recall Gagner, Pitton"
Goaltender Jonas Hiller suffered a cut in his left hand during the 0-3 loss to Vancouver yesterday and will not dress in the last game of the back to back against the Canucks tonight. Forward Patrick O'Sullivan suffered a shoulder contusion in the same game, forcing him to sit out tonight as well. Since netminder Jeff Deslauriers has to go through waivers to be called up from Springfield, the Oilers have opted to call up Bryan Pitton to back up Khabibulin instead. After a solid start in Springfield, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist over his first 3 games, Sam Gagner earned the call up as O'Sullivan's replacement. "Sam will step right into Patrick's spot" informed head coach Kevin Constantine after the morning skate, adding "They play a similar type of hockey, and hopefully he will be able to play on the strengths of his linemates".
Oilers point leaders
Five games into the season, it's newcomer Anton Babchuk who has the most points, with 4, he is also the top minute logger, playing in excess of 24 minutes per game on average. While most Oilers are even or in the negative, Ryan Stone has a fair +2 rating, with his linemates Moore and Axelsson following suit at +1 over 5 games.
