Oilers send down Skille, Cogliano

Edmonton Oilers News (February 1st 2011) "Oilers send down Skille, Cogliano - call up Hartikainen, Axelsson"

After going pointless in 8 games, forward Andrew Cogliano was sent down to the Springfield Falcons. "I am disappointed..." said Cogliano of the move, but elaborated, "...in myself more than anything." The young speedster has 31 points in 52 games with the Oilers so far, holding a second line spot for most of that time. "Our scoring has been lacking lately, and that is not all on Andrew, of course, but we have to see if we can't mix things up and spark something" said GM Morgan Kowalski on the moves.

Cogliano was joined on the flight by power forward Jack Skille, who has oscillated between the NHL and AHL all season. Since being called up before the Phoenix game some two weeks ago, Skille has registered no points and is a -1 in that time.

Replacing the Skille/Cogliano duo are forwards Anton Axelsson and Teemu Hartikainen. Swedish checker Axelsson has clearly enjoyed his time in Springfield, putting up 12 points in 10 games since being sent down. Finnish team-mate Hartikainen has also been relatively productive in the AHL, scoring 25 points in 38 games. His NHL experience has been limited to a mere two games this season, but he holds a point per game scoring pace through those two appearances. It is likely that Axelsson slots in for Skille on the third line, while Hartikainen takes Cogliano's LW position on the second line.
