Edmonton Oilers News (December 7th 2010) "Oilers trade Lashoff to Phoenix!"
Steady young defenseman Matt Lashoff has been traded to the Phoenix Coyotes for forward Anton Krysanov and a 5th round pick (PHX) in the 2010 draft. Lashoff has struggled for ice time with the Oilers this season and could not be sent to the AHL without clearing waivers. Obviously, Edmonton felt Lashoff was too good to be waivered, and has reportedly been looking for a deal for some time. Last year, Lashoff scored 11 goals and 10 assists in 62 NHL games, but failed to push his way into the lineup this year.
Anton Krysanov is a 23 year old center/wing with some potential, though he has yet to play an NHL game. His strengths are mainly his skating and ability to handle and pass the puck, but he is a decent two way player with good size and strength as well. His current contract runs out this summer, at which point he is an RFA is a qualifying offer has been given. "We're happy to have acquired Krysanov" commented GM Morgan Kowalski on the deal, noting also that the Oilers had no particular fetish for Antons, though Krysanov happened to be the third Anton on the team. "He will travel to Springfield to get to know the organisation, but I won't be surprised if he gets called up so we can have a look at him during the latter half of the season" continued Kowalski, adding that "Krysanov was someone we've looked at for a while and the deal was done to help both Edmonton and Lashoff to move forward."
