Edmonton Oilers News (December 4th 2010) "Oilers re-sign Ladislav Smid"
The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed 24 year old defenseman Ladislav Smid to a 2 year extension, adding to his current 1 year deal. His cap hit for the next two seasons will be 1.5M. Smid, playing most of his minutes with Tom Gilbert this season, has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in 22 games, while being a strong +6 in the process.
Smid joins Brooks Laich in the ranks of newly re-signed players, with skaters like O'Sullivan, Stone, Moreau, Axelsson and Lashoff remaining as free agents so far. Of those, only Ethan Moreau is unrestricted, however, and all RFAs have been given qualifying offers.
