Oilers send down O'Marra, deal Lashoff?

Oilers News (November 17th 2010) "Oilers send down forward Ryan O'Marra"

Following Dustin Penner's return from abdominal injury, winger Ryan O'Marra has been sent down to Springfield. O'Marra has 2 goals and 1 assist in 14 NHL games this season, mainly on a line with Ethan Moreau and Lee Falardeau.

Rumours

Having featured in only 2 games in the last 3 weeks, defenseman Matt Lashoff, who is subject to regular season waivers, is rumoured to be on the way out of Edmonton. Lashoff, who has a -6 in 10 games so far, looked to be a shoe-in for a spot on the team based on his solid performances last season, has yet to deliver this year. "I rate Lashoff highly" said GM Kowalski of the 24 year old two-way defenseman, "but he's struggled for ice time, and we can not send him to Springfield without him having to clear waivers". The expectation is that should Lashoff be put on waivers, he will be claimed. Instead, teams like the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils are rumoured to be making offers for Lashoff, which Kowalski is considering.

What the Oilers might want back is uncertain, they are indeed in a rebuilding process, so picks or prospects is likely to be in the picture, possibly addressing their need for a consistent goal scorer. Still, there are limits to what Lashoff's market value can bring back, though a package deal is not to be ruled out, according to some speculating reporters.
