Oilers rumours

Edmonton Oilers News (December 21st 2010) "Oilers rumours"

Unconfirmed reports indicate the Oilers have received several inquiries and offers for forward Andrew Cogliano. Teams like New Jersey, Florida, Tampa Bay and Boston are reportedly trying to acquire Edmonton's emerging young star. Cogliano has 6 goals, 17 assists in 34 games on the season. Edmonton are not likely to deal Cogliano for older players, but may yet be convinced to take the alleged first and second round picks that Boston have offered. Nevertheless, there seems to be no pressure to move any young Oilers right now, as GM Kowalski has stated over and over again that Edmonton are still 'rebuilding' and 'conservatively building for the future'.

In the junior ranks, prospect Cam Fowler is touted to become a real star, having absolutely dominated with his team the Windsor Spitfires. In addition, Swedish winger Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson is doing admirably with a struggling team, as is defenseman and college prospect Jon Merrill. Unfortunately, reports indicate that the Oilers are still struggling to sign KHL based Linus Omark, and having made no progress in negotiations since early this fall will surely make for trade-rumours including the 23-year old Swedes' rights.
