Oilers in rematch against Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers 5-3 (3-1, 1-1, 1-1)

Colorado arrived in Edmonton four days after their 7-5, facing an unchanged Oilers-lineup.

The venue had changed, but the recipe was the same. Colorado's speed and direct style propelled them into the lead. Greg Moore was strong on the puck to provide balance on the score sheet, outmuscling Berard to get to the net, but Colorado restored their lead quickly. Building a reputation of being an Oilers-killer this season, winger Branko Radivojevic netted two in 25 seconds to bring the Avs up comfortably.

What the Oilers fans had only seen on television the other night had been brought home to them, an Avalanche team with authority taking it to the Oilers at every chance. Radivojevic completed his hat trick thirteen minutes into the second period, though another thirteen, Andrew Cogliano broke away to reduce the lead to two immediately following that goal.

The Oilers locked horns with Colorado and neither team could break entirely free. Penner's power play goal was equalled by Duchene's, and hence the sands of time ran out on the Oilers, leaving them defeated once again.

Post game: Branko Radivojevic and Fredrik Modin single handedly tore apart the Oilers defense, and the failures of key players like Laich, Visnovsky, Gagner, O'Sullivan and Smid did not go unpunished. The Oilers fans might be worried that they're developing a complex against yet another divisional rival, because the Avs seem to hold the high ground right now.
